"..... we are trying to work together on some projects especially regarding children but so far nothing has happen. Everything that goes through a government agency or through a big ONG seems to be taking way to much time, too much logistic and too much paperwork involved. We want to act fast.
We are working together with Eric Neif a french guy on Koh Jum. He is working with my husband's family to try to help the fishermen there, then with Aeg and Kay on Koh Yao and Philippe from "Entraide et Solidarite" in Phuket
.
The governement has given people some money, very little. 2000 Bahts (40 Euros) per person but not everyone received money... They are also supposed to give people who lost family members some money but I am not exactly sure how much yet, I will let you know. We are hearing scary numbers about how much the people who lost their boats will get...
The governement is building some rooms about 6 kilometers from town and access to water for the local people who have lost everything. These people are a people from the water, they are fisherman and even if they don't have any boats right now they don't want to live far from the water. Some of them have told us that they refuse to go there. Besides, it is very far away from town and most of them don't have any way to get from there to town... It is complicated. Also, the barraks won't be finished for at least 3 weeks... The rooms are very small and most of them will host families..." << zurück
